Ixnay on the alarysay

My last day at work is tomorrow. And in typical fashion, I'll be showing up late. Because I have to take an exam. Because I tend toward procrastination. But you would too if you were taking an online P.E. class, I assure you.

More importantly, here's my thought of the day: does anyone else kind of have the heebeejeebees about General Petraeus being they guy in charge of the Iraq War because it kind of sounds a lot like a ROMAN EMPIRE general's name? It makes you think of the Roman Empire and the FALL of the Roman Empire and how that was such a crazy story that more than a couple books have been written about it. And "Petraeus" makes you think of words like "hubris" and "et tu Brutus?" and "history repeating itself" and ... stuff?

I know my freaked-out-by-the-whole-Roman-thing peeps are out there. We should put together some signs for the next big peace march - work the whole threat to the American Way angle. Like, "You like apple pie? The Romans liked puls. Seen that lately?" Or for NASCAR fans: "When was the last time you saw a chariot race? The Indy 500 won't survive the Fall either!" I think it could open some eyes. Or bore them into not voting for the war hawks- either way, I'm happy.
